- SORROWS
and JOYS
of
Saint
Joseph.
I.-
Chaste husband of Most Holy Mary, glorious Saint Joseph: By the sorrow
you had when in doubt of having to forsake your beloved Spouse and by the
joy with which you received the Angel revelation of the mystery of Incarnation,
I beg you to help me reach sorrow for my uncouth judgments and undue criticism
of my neighbors; and the joy of being charitable seeing Christ in them.

II.- Happy patriarch,
adoptive father of the humanized Verb, glorious Saint Joseph: By the sorrow
that moved you to see the Child Jesus born in extreme poverty and by the
joy that flooded you to see Him sung by the angels and adored by the shepherds;
I beg you to help me reach sorrow for my greed and selfishness and the
joy to serve Him in poverty and humility.

III.- Faithful executor
of the divine laws, glorious Saint Joseph: By the sorrow that produced
in you to see the first shedding of blood of the Messiah in His circumcision
and by the joy you felt hearing His name: Jesus, Savior; I beg you to help
me reach sorrow for my vices and sensuality and the joy of the purification
of my spirit by mortification.

IV.- Devoted saint,
participant of the mysteries of redemption, glorious Saint Joseph: By the
sorrow that pierced you to hear in Simeon prophecy how many pains should
suffer Jesus and Mary, and by the joy that filled you to know that all
would be for the salvation of innumerable souls; I beg you to help me reach
sorrow for my sins that crucified Christ and the joy to take him to humankind
through my example and my word.

V.- Watchful custody
of the Son of God made man, glorious Saint Joseph: By the pain that distressed
you to know that Herod wanted to kill the Child, and by the joy that comforted
you fleeing with Jesus and Mary to Egypt; I beg you to help me reach sorrow for my sins of scandal and the joy of being apart of all the occasions to offend God.

VI.- Angel of the
earth, that had the King of Heaven under your lead, glorious Saint Joseph:
By the sorrow that instilled in you the fear of Archelaus and by the joy
that give you the Angel telling you to go back to Nazareth, I beg you to
help me reach sorrow for my cowardice of human respect and the joy to confess
Christ in all my life, public and private.

VII.- Sanctity Model,
glorious Saint Joseph: By the sorrow you felt, without guilt, when the
Child was lost for three day and by the joy you had when He was found in
the Temple amid the Law masters; I beg you to impress sorrow in my soul
for my guilt when I lose Christ, and the joy of living always in grace
and happily die, under you protection in the arms of Jesus and Mary, to
sing their mercy forever.

Jesus was thirty years old and
Joseph
was seen as His
father.

for us Saint
Joseph.
.-So we are worthy to reach the benefits of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray: "O
God, that in your ineffable providence chose to select Saint Joseph
as husband of your Holy Mother: we
beg You that as we venerate him as protector on Earth,
we deserve him as intercessor in Heaven. Thou, that live and reign
forever and ever. Amen.
( It is recommended to pray the seven sorrows and joys, during seven Sundays, specially the seven Sundays before Saint Joseph Feast- March 19th)
